Theory of Relativity proven wrong
Sometime ago, I read a news article that CERN had proven that neutrinos were faster than light. While this experiment has still not been confirmed, the possibility of it being correct have been confirmed already by a second experiment. The direct result of these experiments is that the theory of relativity that is taught in classes is wrong. It also opens up a puzzling question. Can information travel back in time now that neutrinos travel faster than light?
That is for scientists to decide and since I am no scientist, just someone majoring in engineering, I'll leave that question for those accomplished to answer.
One thing is clear though, Einstein's theory was wrong. However, this leads to many questions. Many experiments have been conducted on the basis of this theory. Results with findings that became facts. Results that led to more and more equations. However, if the fundamental theory is wrong, surely, the results of other experiments are also flawed.
If this is confirmed by independent analysis, it will be the single biggest event in the scientific community. It will create a shock wave and falsify many assumptions about light. But one thing is clear, if it is true, as it seems likely to be, Einstein's theory will be proven wrong.
