I Think I'm Going To Have Nightmares Tonight
Creepy Canadian PSA from 1981 that I found on Youtube.
I don't know which is more creepier: the subject matter, the lighting, the thumping heartbeat in the background, or the fact that the camera slowly zooms up to one of the woman's eyes.
Pause at 0:28 for a near heart attack.

It is incredibly creepy, for sure. I wonder what the purpose of videos like this is.

The PSA is about how to deal with bank robbers if you work in bank.
Public service announcements (the name used in the US) and public information films (the name used in the UK) are known for using techniques that dig deep into the human mind and scare them.
Many PIFs have a reputation for being much more graphic than most American PSAs.
Here are some of the most notorious vintage PIFs:
However, I feel like using one from Japan at the current moment, because those ones are rarely touched upon on English language websites. Some have a bit in common with the ones from the UK and some are similar to the US ones.
I'm going to use one that is similar to a PIF.
This CM from Seifukouhou, known as "Kitchen Mother", originally aired in Japan in the early 1980's (according to some websites, I believe now defunct websites, it was 1982) and is known to be very frightening.
Shocking, huh?
In my opinion, I think Seifukouhou CM are far more hard hitting than the AC ones.
You could most certainly say that PSAs and PIFs are used a form of mind control, possibly a form of scare tactics, as generations of people from all around the world can recall being frightened by at least one of them as a child.
One could write a long article about PSAs and PIFs along with their effects in human psychology, but I don't have the experience to write something like that.
Perhaps we should move this to the "Mind Control" forums?
