Teen Living Off Chicken Nuggets Collapses and Sent to Hospital
"Teen Living Off Chicken Nuggets Collapses and Sent to Hospital":
http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/318559
"A 17-year-old Birmingham girl was rushed and admitted to the hospital this week after she collapsed at work and had trouble breathing.
During her hospital stay she was placed on an urgent course of vitamins, which included injections.
What would make a teen, who looks reasonably healthy, get so sick?
Her diet. The problem is she is fixated on eating McDonald's chicken McNuggets. And if she's not eating the nuggets from McDonald's, she's eating KFC or supermarket versions of the fried food.
Reportedly Stacey Irvine has been told straight out by doctors she'll die if she doesn't change her diet and make better food choices, but she can't stop eating this unhealthy food. With this hospitalization doctors found she had swollen veins in her tongue and has anemia.
According to the U.K. Sun, 17-year-old Stacy said, "I am starting to realise this is really bad for me. McDonald's chicken nuggets are my favourite. I share 20 with my boyfriend with chips."
Her mother, Evonne Irvine, 39, has been struggling with her daughter to eat other, more healthy choices, but to no avail. Her daughter has never routinely eaten fruits or vegetables.
She told The Sun, "I'm at my wit's end. I'm praying she can be helped before it's too late. It breaks my heart to see her eating those damned nuggets."
The Daily Mail reported Stacy has been hooked on chicken nuggets since she was a toddler at age 2 and hasn't eaten anything else since.
"I first tasted chicken nuggets when my mum took me to McDonald's when I was two," Irvine told The Sun. "I loved them so much they were all I would eat. I just couldn't face even trying other foods. Mom gave up giving me anything else years ago."
Reportedly the teen has strong cravings for McNuggets, although she'll occasionally indulge in toast for breakfast. She's also accumulated four trash bags full of kid's meal toys.
Over the years there has been controversial debate that suggests fast-food is addictive, however others do not find credence in this theory and instead look to fast food causing the body's blood sugar to rise and then fall.
Stacy's siblings, aged 5 and 3, are said to eat more balanced diets. Reportedly Evonne Irving even once tried to starve her daughter in order to get her to try and eat something else other than nuggets, but even that extreme did not break the girl's desire to eat chicken nuggets.
A 6-piece serving of chicken McNuggets contains 320 calories, 20 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, and 510 mg of sodium."

and on a related note...
"Anti-foaming agent found in Chicken McNuggets":
http://www.naturalnews.com/032820_Chicken_McNuggets_ingredients.html
"Ever wonder what's really found in Chicken McNuggets? Some of the ingredients, it turns out, seem to belong more to an industrial factory of some kind, not a food retailer. According to the McDonald's Corporation, its famous Chicken McNuggets are made with ingredients including autolyzed yeast extract (which contain free glutamate, similar to MSG), sodium phosphates and sodium aluminum phosphate. But that's not the freaky part. According to McDonald's own website, Chicken McNuggets are also made with "hydrogenated soybean oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness" and "Dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent."
At least two of these ingredients are artificially synthesized industrial chemicals. TBHQ, a petroleum derivative, is used as a stabilizer in perfumes, resins, varnishes and oil field chemicals. Laboratory studies have linked it to stomach tumors. "At higher doses, it has some negative health effects on lab animals, such as producing precursors to stomach tumors and damage to DNA. A number of studies have shown that prolonged exposure to high doses of TBHQ may be carcinogenic, especially for stomach tumors."
Dimethylpolysiloxane, a type of silicone, is used in caulks and sealants, as a filler for breast implants, and as key ingredient in Silly Putty. Says Wikipedia:
"PDMS is also used as a component in silicone grease and other silicone based lubricants, as well as in defoaming agents, mold release agents, damping fluids, heat transfer fluids, polishes, cosmetics, hair conditioners and other applications. PDMS has also been used as a filler fluid in breast implants, although this practice has decreased somewhat, due to safety concerns. PDMS is used variously in the cosmetic and consumer product industry as well. For example, PDMS can be used in the treatment of head lice..."
Not that the other ingredients are any better. Because cotton is not regulated as a food crop, cottonseed oil may contain chemical pesticides that are banned in food production. It is also almost always genetically modified. Hydrogenated oils, of course, typically contain trans fats, the artificially produced fats that are unusable by the body and that studies have linked to a number of detrimental health problems. And autolyzed yeast extract is a chemical taste-enhancing ingredient containing free glutamate that manufacturers use as a friendlier-looking replacement for MSG.
And what about the chicken in Chicken McNuggets? It's factory-farmed chicken, not free-range chicken. So it's the kind of chicken that's typically treated with vaccines and hormones while being fed conventional feed products that are medicated with pharmaceuticals and grown with pesticides.
Yum!! Don't forget to ask for extra dipping sauce. We haven't even talked about what you'll find in there..."

I can't stand McDonalds. My diet doesn't consist of any fast food except on rare occasions. I can stand KFC but McDonalds, without fail, always gives me diarrhoea. When I learnt of the chemicals in McDonalds, it didn't surprise me. Anyone who doesn't eat a lot of fast food will get sick after eating something from there

I'd hate to burst your bubble, but KFC gives me gas. I really don't want to talk about what happened the last time I had that Kentucky Grilled Chicken from there. One has to wonder what exactly is in those so-called "11 herbs and spices", and let's not forget the Curse of the Colonel.

I normally try to avoid fast food like the plague, but I do love Subway, though.
Other than Subway, no thank you, I'll pass.

Subway can't actually be classed as Fast Food as such. I mean, you pick the ingredients you want yourself and with a bit of choosing, you can make it very healthy. Plus, their sauces aren't secret, they're normal ingredients.
I agree that KFC's not the best either though. I was just saying it's better than McDonalds for me
